Split pickup: two houses, one truck

A parent’s garage and your walk-up on the same Kansas City day. How we price two pickups and one unload — not two mystery stops.

ARTICLE IMAGE

Two pickups is two sits, two paths, and one truck that has to still have room. A parent’s garage in the morning and a walk-up after lunch is a normal Kansas City day if we wrote both addresses. It is not a free second stop. Partial rooms at one house is the next page. This page is two doors we load. Two ZIP codes are not enough if there are three — Get my price, how we quote from two ZIP codes.

From [$XXX] an hour for two movers and a truck — two movers and a truck. Drive time between sits is hours. We will not write an interstate second pickup. We will not write “licensed and insured.”

What to put on the sheet

  • Both pickup addresses and the unload — order if one has a clock
  • What comes from which house — not “we’ll see what fits”
  • Access at each sit — parking, stairs, lift
  • Awkward at either door: piano, safe, china
  • Whether the first load has to leave room for the second
  • Keys at both — keys late if one lockbox is a maybe

Photos of both doors and both curbs — photos that get a written price. The week before: confirm both windows — what movers need the week before. What to tell us: what to tell us. After you request a price: after you request a price. Closing day at one end and a second pickup: closing day.

Order the sits or the truck fills wrong

A ranch garage first can be the bulky keep — Blue Springs garage-first, garage as a room. A walk-up second is slower — walk-ups, stairs and tight turns. Reverse that and the truck is full of totes when the sofa still has to come down. Long carry at either end: long carry and shuttle. Elevator slot: elevator reservations. Town home: town homes. HOA: HOA. How long: how long a local move takes.

Furniture that will not turn at the second house is still that sofa — furniture that will not turn. Labour only on your rental is two sits you parked — labour-only. Storage as a third door, local only: storage. We will not add a fourth city because a cousin has a couch in another state.

Mark what comes from where

Labels: house plus room — how to label boxes. What is not coming at either address — what you are not taking. Thin the parent garage before we tape — how to thin out. A garage that is still a dump is a cleanout conversation — when a cleanout is the job, cleanouts. Estate second pickup: estate and inherited. First apartment plus parents’ basement: first apartment. Downsizing into a smaller place plus leftover at the old ranch: senior downsizing.

Pack order still applies at each house — what to pack first. Kitchen last where someone still eats — how to pack a kitchen. Per box: standard $10–20, wardrobe $25–30, dish pack $30–40 — packing. Living room, dining, bedroom, bathroom, kids, office: living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, kids’ rooms, home office. Wardrobes vs drawers: wardrobe boxes vs drawers. Workshop: workshop.

Fridge at either house: fridge prep. Washer: washer and dryer, basement washers. Beds: beds, mattress bags. What stays off the truck: what not to put on the truck. Pad and wrap: how we pad and wrap. Morning-of: moving-day morning. Kids and pets at both doors: kids and pets.

Awkward at stop one still changes stop two

A piano at the first house uses the crew and the space — piano moves, baby grand ([REAL JOB] stays). Safessafes. Hot tubshot tub moves. Pool tables. Chinachina and glass. Appliances. TVs. White glovewhite glove vs standard. Rental at one stop: moving out of a rental, landlord walkthrough.

Month-end: month-end. Same-day two pickups with no plan: same-day. Weekend vs weekday: weekend vs weekday. July heat on two walks: July and August. Ice: winter moving day, rain and ice. School-year: Lee's Summit school-year. Four weeks: four weeks. New construction unload: new-construction. Kansas City. Independencesplit-levels. Raytownranch. Blue Springs. Grandview71 corridor. Lee's Summit. Waldo. Midtown. Northland. Johnson County — mention only. Johnson County checklist. Live list: service areas. Houses and apartments. Officesoffice hours. How we quote: two ZIP codes. Compare hours: how to compare hourly quotes. Compare: comparing Kansas City movers. Costs: what a Kansas City move costs. What changes the number: what changes the price.

From [$XXX] an hour. Most local jobs $1,200–$1,500 — two sits can run longer. I quote both doors. About. Call (913) 957-9311. Google [X.X] · [XXX]. [REAL REVIEW]. [TIM'S DAMAGE POLICY]. [WHAT TIM WILL HONOUR]. [REGISTERED ENTITY NAME]. DOT/MC pending. No interstate. Contact. Privacy, cookies.

Frequently asked questions

Is the second house free if it is “just a few things”?

No. It is a sit, a path, and drive time. Say what comes from which door.

Three ZIP codes?

Put all three on the form or the phone. Two ZIPs start a one-to-one. This job is not that.

Can we do the second pickup another day?

Ask. That can be cleaner than a full truck and a leftover sofa. We will say what the board has.

Parents are out of state.

We still need a local key and a marked pile. We will not write an interstate pickup.

Is this a partial move?

Partial is a few rooms at one address. This page is two addresses. Read both when they apply.

List both pickups and the unload

Three addresses if that is the job, what comes from which door, and the order. We will write the hours for two sits, not one surprise stop.
