Packing a bedroom and closet

A bedroom is the room most people can pack themselves. That is why we charge packing per box: you do the closets, we do the kitchen. Wardrobe boxes are $25–30. Standard boxes $10–20. The kitchen still uses dish packs — how to pack a kitchen.

What hangs vs what folds

• Wardrobe boxes for suits, dresses, anything that will crease into a fight
• Standard boxes for folded clothes, shoes, linen
• Do not overfill a wardrobe until the bar bows
• Keep a first-night bag off the truck — meds, chargers, one change
• The bed last so someone still has a place to sit while we load

Leave clothes on the hanger when they go in a wardrobe. Dumping a closet into garbage bags is how you iron on Saturday. We will pack the closets if you want — that is time, and it goes on the sheet.

Dressers and the landing

A dresser that moved in through the garage in 1998 may not turn on a Brookside landing. We would rather tape the drawers and measure the stair than find out with it in the air. Heavy drawers stay in if the piece will take the weight and the path is straight. They come out if we have to tip it on a tight flight. Do not leave jewelry in a drawer you assume we will not open. Take that with you.

The bed

Kids’ rooms and the extra closet

School-year moves in Lee's Summit and Blue Springs fill the spare closet with sport bags and science projects. That is still boxes. Label the room on two sides. If the date cannot slip, book in the four weeks.

A ranch in Raytown or a long lot in Grandview does not change how a closet packs. It changes the carry. Say if the bedrooms are over a basement we also have to empty.

What we pack vs what you pack

Leave the kitchen and the glass to us if you are short on evenings. Do the bedrooms. That split is why full packing lands in the $3,000–$4,000 band and a labour-only house stays closer to $1,200–$1,500. The breakdown is what changes the price.
