White glove vs a standard house move
Same crew, more time, more padding. When a Kansas City house needs white glove handling and when a standard house move is the honest job.
White glove is not a different company with a different name on the van. It is the same crew, more time, more wrapping. Higher-end homes, everything padded. If the house needs that kind of handling, tell us. We will price the extra protection rather than rush it. The specialty page is white glove. The form is Get my price.
A standard house and apartment move still pads what needs padding. It does not wrap every chair like a piano. That is the difference. Not a slogan. Not “seamless.” Time on the clock and material on the furniture.
What a standard house move already includes
Two movers and a truck from [$XXX] an hour is the starting point once we know the access. Furniture gets pads. Mattresses get bags. We do not throw a dresser down a Brookside stair. Awkward items still have to be named: piano, china cabinet, hot tub, safe, pool table. Naming them is not white glove. It is the job.
- Pads on furniture that will scratch or be scratched
- Disassembly we agreed — bed frames, the table that will not turn
- Appliances disconnect and hookup if it is on the sheet
- Packing only if you booked it — per box, not assumed
- A written number that does not move unless you add work and we agree it
That is enough for most three- and four-beds in Kansas City, Raytown, Grandview, and the published Missouri list. The price still moves with stairs, long carries, and packing. That breakdown is what changes the price.
What white glove adds
More wrap. More time. More of the house treated like the china cabinet instead of like a dresser. Floors protected on the path. Corners padded before they meet a door jamb. Art and glass off the wall and packed, not “we’ll be careful.” Same people. Longer day. The white glove page says it in two sentences because that is the whole product.
- Everything that can take a mark gets a layer before it moves
- More time on placement at the other end — not dump-and-go in the garage
- Glass, art, and display pieces packed as part of the move, not left for Saturday
- The piano and the cabinet already on the crew sheet, not discovered in the living room
- A house that has to look the same after we leave — floors, rails, new paint
Leawood and the higher-end Overland Park streets are where the piano and the china cabinet show up together. That is extra hands and more wrap, not a marketing name. Kansas suburb pages stay unpublished until authority is confirmed. We still work Johnson County most weeks — ZIP codes or the phone. Access and HOA: Johnson County house move checklist. Live areas: service areas.
When the standard job is the honest one
A ranch in Lee's Summit with a garage and no piano does not need every dining chair crated. A walk-up with a sofa and a bed needs the stairs measured, not a white-glove label. A cleanout is the opposite problem: speed and dump runs. We do not pretend a cleanout is a white-glove house move. See when a cleanout is the job.
Labour only is also not white glove. Your truck, our people, the same pads we would use on a standard load. If you want every piece wrapped like art, say so — that is time, and we will put it on the labour-only quote. More: labour-only moving.
When white glove is the honest one
A house with a baby grand, a curio, and new floors. A place where the owner will notice a scuff on a rail. A move where the destination is already finished and we are carrying through a painted hall. That is not us selling a package. That is us refusing to price a rush on a house that will not forgive one.
The Brookside piano example stays bracketed: a baby grand out of a third-floor walk-up. [REAL JOB — write this from the actual move when the photos are in.] White glove on that stair is still three layers on the finish and enough crew. The label does not replace the measure. Piano method: piano moves. Glass method: china cabinet and glass.
Packing is a separate line
White glove is handling. Packing is boxes. You can have a standard move with full packing, or white glove with you packing the kitchen yourself. Do not mix the words. Per-box prices: standard $10–20, wardrobe $25–30, dish pack $30–40 on packing. Kitchen: how to pack a kitchen. Full packing on a house can sit in the $3,000–$4,000 band we already publish. Local moves without that packing still land $1,200–$1,500 for most jobs. Those numbers are on the cost guide, not invented here.
If you want us to pack the glass and you will do the clothes, write that. Compare quotes on the same packing line — comparing Kansas City movers.
Offices are a different clock
An office after hours is not white glove unless the furniture is. Desks and file cabinets around your hours is office moves around your hours. If the office has art and glass that cannot take a mark, say so. Same crew, more wrap, still after 6pm if that is the window.
How we quote the difference
Two ZIP codes start both jobs. Photos of the rooms that need the extra wrap help more than a bed count. I quote it — about. Call (913) 957-9311. We will not write “licensed and insured.” We will not invent reviews. Google stays [X.X] · [XXX] reviews. [REAL REVIEW] stays bracketed on reviews.
Independence two-storeys, Blue Springs garages, Raytown ranches — the access still matters more than the label. Nearby: Independence split-levels, Lee's Summit school-year moves, Blue Springs. Book the date in the four weeks if you can.
Frequently asked questions
Is white glove a different crew?
No. Same people. More time and more material. Not a second company.
Do I need white glove if I have a piano?
You need the piano on the quote. That already changes the crew. White glove is the rest of the house getting the same care as the piano.
Can I get a standard price and add wrap on the day?
We would rather put it on the sheet first. Extra wrap mid-job is time. We will agree it before we start if you change your mind.
Is this the opposite of a cleanout?
Yes. A cleanout is empty-by-Friday. White glove is the house staying nice. Do not book one and mean the other.
Do you do this on the Kansas side?
Yes. Johnson County most weeks. ZIP codes or the phone. Kansas area pages stay unpublished until authority is confirmed.
