The four weeks before you move, in order

Weekends and month-end fill first. Book the date, decide packing, list the piano and the stairs, then empty the heavy drawers — Kansas City and Johnson County included.

Four weeks is comfortable. It is not mandatory. If you need us sooner, ring (816) 299-7989 and we will tell you what is free. This is the order that keeps the price you were given matching the job we turn up to.

It is the same sequence for a ranch in Raytown, a walk-up in Kansas City, or a Johnson County house with an HOA window. The form does not change. The access notes do.

Four weeks out: book the date

Weekends and month-end fill first. School-district dates in Lee's Summit and the rest of the metro cannot slip just because the builder did. Two ZIP codes start a written price — Get my price.

  • Both ZIP codes, even if you already know the streets
  • A date, “within a month,” or “just getting prices”
  • Size of the place
  • Whether you need the truck or labor only

If the closing date is soft, say so. We would rather hold a window than pretend a Friday is fixed. Cleanouts and short notice are a different call — cleanouts — ring first and we will say if we can get to you.

Three weeks: decide what you pack

Pack the easy rooms yourself if you want. Leave the kitchen. Per-box prices live on packing: standard $10–20, wardrobe $25–30, dish pack $30–40. A typical kitchen is six or seven dish packs. The method is how to pack a kitchen.

Full packing is what takes a $1,200–$1,500 local move toward $3,000–$4,000. That is the whole point of charging per box. Do the bedrooms. Let us do the glass. What that does to the number is in what changes the price.

If you are on a Johnson County HOA clock, do not leave the kitchen until the night before. That list is the Johnson County house move checklist.

Two weeks: the awkward list and the access

This is the week the price is still honest if you tell the truth. Stairs, no lift, HOA window, driveway that will not take a 26-footer, washer in the basement. Walk-up apartments need the floor and whether there is a lift at either end.

White glove is the same crew with more time and more padding, not a different van. Offices are a different clock — offices around your hours.

The week of

  • Empty the heavy drawers — books, tools, kitchenware
  • Leave a kettle and mugs out
  • Confirm where the truck can sit, and the gate code if there is one
  • Defrost the freezer if it is coming
  • Keep a path from the door to the rooms we have to work

If you are on the Kansas side — Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood, Shawnee — the live suburb pages are still the Missouri ones on service areas. Those Kansas URLs stay unpublished until Kansas authority is confirmed. Use ZIP codes or the phone for a price.

If you only have a week

Do the same list, compressed. Book first. Awkward items second. Packing third. We would rather have a tight, true request than a tidy calendar with a piano left off it. Call if the form feels slower than the date.

What we do with what you send

We come back with a written price. Bigger jobs get a walkthrough first — in person, or photos and a video. The number we quote is the number you pay unless you add work on the day and agree it with us first. I quote the jobs and I am on most of them — about. From $160 an hour for two movers and a truck, once we know the access.

Frequently asked questions

How far ahead should I book?

A couple of weeks is comfortable. Weekends and month-end fill first. If you need us sooner, ring and we will tell you what is free.

What if the date moves?

Tell us as soon as you know. We will say what we can hold. Do not assume the same Saturday is still open.

Do I have to pack anything?

No. You can pack nothing, or only the easy rooms. The quote form asks what help you want.

What if I remember the piano in week one?

Tell us then. A piano added on the morning is a different job. See piano moves in Kansas City.

Can I start with ZIPs and finish the rest later?

Yes. Two ZIP codes is step one. We still want the awkward list before the price is treated as final.

The rest of the form is short. We come back with a written number.
