The garage and shed are a room
Bikes, freezers, and the thing that blocks the only wide door. How we price a Kansas City garage or shed — not as leftover time after the sofa.
A garage is a room. A shed is a second address on the same lot. Tools, seasonal bins, the freezer, the mower, and the thing that blocks the door you thought we would use. If it is not on the quote, it is how the last hour disappears. Two ZIP codes: Get my price.
Blue Springs garage-first loading is the suburb version: load the bay so the door stays a door. This page is every garage and shed — Raytown low doors, Grandview keys, a detached shed at the back of a long lot.
What we need to know
- Attached garage, detached, or a shed at the back
- What is coming vs staying — what you are not taking
- A freezer or fridge — appliances
- Door height — a loaded dolly will not always stand up
- Whether the bay is the only wide opening on the house
- Who has the key the morning of — Grandview and the 71 corridor
- Paint, fuel, and open chemicals — a later post covers what not to put on the truck; ask before you leave them in the path
Photos from the street and from inside beat “just some stuff in the garage” — photos that get a written price. A walking video to the shed is better if it is behind a fence.
The door is the path
If we load the house first, we spend the last hour climbing over the bay. Garage-first keeps the truck sit and the house path open. A town home garage under the living room is often the only wide door. A Raytown ranch low header is a height problem, not a joke.
A shed at the back of a Grandview long lot is a carry after the main road plan. Ice on that path is a delay — rain and ice moves.
Heavy things people forget
A safe in the corner — safes and gun safes. A hot tub behind the shed. A workbench that was never meant to turn. Say them. A packed garage in Lee's Summit is already on that suburb’s habit list — still put it on the form.
Workshop packing — tool chests, fasteners, half-used oil — is a later guide. Here: the garage counts as square footage even if you think of it as leftover.
Cleanout vs keep
A bay that is half donate and half keep needs three piles. A bay that has to be empty by Friday is closer to a cleanout — when a cleanout is the job. We will not invent a dump run.
Labour only still needs the bay plan if you hired the truck. More: labour-only moving. Morning-of: the garage empty enough to be a door — moving-day morning.
Price
A full garage can move a $1,200–$1,500 local job as much as an extra bedroom. That is what changes the price. From [$XXX] an hour for two movers and a truck. I quote it — about. Call (913) 957-9311.
We will not write “licensed and insured.” Google stays [X.X] · [XXX] reviews. Compare the same bay — comparing Kansas City movers. Johnson County long drives: Johnson County house move checklist. Kansas pages unpublished. Live list: service areas. Nearby: Kansas City, Independence, Blue Springs. Book in the four weeks if you can. Beds in the house: beds and disassembly.
Frequently asked questions
Is the garage included in a three-bed quote?
Only if we know what is in it. A freezer and a workbench are not “a few boxes.”
The shed is at the back of the lot.
Say so. That is a carry. Photos of the gate and the path.
Can you leave the mower and take the rest?
Yes. Mark the leave pile. We will not guess.
Someone else still has a car in the bay.
We need the door. Tell us who has the key. Morning-of is too late to discover a parked sedan.
Put the garage on the sheet
What is coming, the door height, and whether a shed is in the back. Two ZIP codes. We will write the number for the bay as well as the house.
