Rain and ice moves in Kansas City

Wet stairs, north-ice drives, and a truck sit that turns to slush. We will delay before we carry a piano on glass. How weather changes the day.

Kansas City weather does not cancel a local move by slogan. It changes the path. Rain on a Brookside walk-up. Ice on an Independence drive that looked fine in October. Slush in a visitor bay. We will delay or shorten the day before we carry a piano on a stair that has turned to glass. Call (913) 957-9311 when the forecast turns — it is me.

The written number does not move unless the access does and we agree it. Two ZIP codes still start a dry-day quote: Get my price. Morning-of changes: moving-day morning.

What to tell us when the sky turns

  • Rain, ice, or both — and which end of the move
  • A north-facing stair or a drive that never sees sun
  • Whether the truck sit is a slope — Independence split-levels
  • A walk-up with no cover at the street door
  • A hot tub or piano still on the sheet
  • Whether the building will let us shift the window — HOA and building rules

A photo of the stair or the drive that morning is worth more than last week’s walkthrough — photos that get a written price.

Rain

Floors get wet. Cardboard gets soft. We pad the path and we do not pretend a mattress bag is a roof. Open boxes on a porch in a downpour are how you pack twice. Finish the kitchen and bedrooms under a roof. Per-box prices stay on packing.

A long carry on a Grandview lot in rain is slower. A visitor bay in a town home with no overhang is slower. That can change the hour count. We will say so rather than run.

Ice

Ice is the stop. A Raytown narrow drive, a steep Independence slab, a north stair on a walk-up — we will not tip a dresser on that for a school-year Monday. Lee's Summit school-year moves still have to land, but not on a sheet of ice. We will look for the next clear window and say what is free.

Salt and a scraped path help. They do not make a piano flight safe. Type and floor still belong on the request — piano moves. A basement safe on ice at the bulkhead is a delay.

The truck sit

Kansas City brick streets off 71 get slick. Blue Springs cul-de-sacs that look wide get a parked neighbour and slush. We plan the truck before the sofa on a dry day; on ice we may need a different sit or a smaller box. Same honesty as Blue Springs garage-first loading.

Johnson County long drives ice first. Overland Park and Leawood get named here because those setbacks hold shade. Kansas pages unpublished. ZIP codes or the phone. Johnson County house move checklist. Live list: service areas.

Labour-only and cleanouts

Your rental on ice is still your sit. We will not load a slope we will not walk. Labour onlylabour-only moving. A cleanout with a Friday key does not get safer because the lease ends. Call first. When a cleanout is the job.

Price and what we will not write

From [$XXX] an hour for two movers and a truck, once the path is one we will walk. Local jobs $1,200–$1,500 before full packing. I quote it — about. We will not write “licensed and insured.” We will not invent a weather fee. Google stays [X.X] · [XXX] reviews. Compare the same access — comparing Kansas City movers. Book slack in the four weeks if January is the date. Nearby: Independence, Raytown.

Frequently asked questions

Do you move in the rain?

Usually. We protect the path. Open boxes on a porch are on you. A piano on a wet third-floor stair is a conversation.

What about ice?

We delay before we carry on glass. Call when you see it. We will say the next window.

Will you charge extra for weather?

Only if the access changes the hours and we agree it. No invented weather line.

The HOA window is today and it is ice.

The ice wins. Ask the building for the next slot. Send us the new window.
