Keys late: what we do

The lockbox is empty. The seller is still in the kitchen. How we handle a Kansas City move when the keys do not show — not a locksmith page.

Keys late means the door we were told to open is still someone else’s. We will not pick a lock. We will not wait in the driveway unpaid while a text says “five more minutes” for two hours. Closing day is the planned same-day close. New-construction is the builder slip. This page is the morning the key never shows. Two ZIP codes: Get my price.

From [$XXX] an hour for two movers and a truck — two movers and a truck. Hours we stand are hours — what changes the price. Call (913) 957-9311 when you know. We will not write “licensed and insured.”

What we can do that morning

  • Load the old house if you still have those keys — park the truck or a local unit — storage, local only
  • Slide the start if the board still has a window — after you request a price
  • Split the day: empty the old place now, unload when the lockbox is real
  • Send the crew to the next job if there is no door and no hold — we will say so
  • Not an interstate hold because an heir or a buyer is flying in

A rental lockout is a landlord conversation — moving out of a rental, landlord walkthrough. Estate: who has the key belongs on the sheet before we roll — estate and inherited. The week before: confirm the keys actually land — what movers need the week before. What to tell us: what to tell us.

What we will not do

We will not climb a window. We will not take a verbal “just go in” from a neighbour. We will not idle at a title office. We will not invent a locksmith and add it to your bill. Morning-of still needs a clear path at the house we can enter — moving-day morning. Kids and pets: kids and pets.

Same-day with no key is the least likely yes — same-day. Month-end makes the next window scarce — month-end. How long the day runs once both doors open: how long a local move takes.

Access at the house we can still work

If we load the old place, the sit still matters — parking. Walk-up: walk-ups. Stairs: stairs and tight turns. Long carry: long carry and shuttle. Elevator window you already reserved may burn — elevator reservations, HOA, town homes. Furniture that will not turn: furniture that will not turn. Photos: photos that get a written price.

Waldo. Midtown. Northland. Garage-first if that door is the one we have — Blue Springs garage-first, garage as a room. Ice on a lockbox morning: winter moving day, rain and ice. Heat: July and August.

The load still has to be a load

Packed rooms move. Loose bags become a cleanout conversation — when a cleanout is the job, how to thin out, what you are not taking. Kitchen last — how to pack a kitchen, what to pack first. Per box: standard $10–20, wardrobe $25–30, dish pack $30–40 — packing. Labels: how to label boxes. Wardrobes vs drawers: wardrobe boxes vs drawers. Living room, dining, bedroom, bathroom, kids: living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, kids’ rooms.

Fridge: fridge prep. Washer: washer and dryer. Beds: beds, mattress bags. What stays off the truck: what not to put on the truck. Pad and wrap: how we pad and wrap. Labour only on your rental still needs a door — labour-only. First apartment: first apartment. Downsizing: senior downsizing.

Awkward still needs a name: pianospiano moves, baby grand ([REAL JOB] stays). Safessafes. Chinachina and glass. Hot tubs. Pool tables. Appliancesbasement washers. TVs. White glovewhite glove vs standard. Home office: home office. Workshop: workshop.

School-year: Lee's Summit school-year. Weekend vs weekday: weekend vs weekday. Four weeks: four weeks. Kansas City. Independencesplit-levels. Raytownranch. Blue Springs. Grandview71 corridor. Frequently asked questions

The lockbox is empty.

Call us. We will load the old house, slide, or leave for the next job. We will not wait unpaid in the drive.

Can you wait two hours?

That is hours if we stay. Say so and we will write it — or we will go load what we can.

Is this the same as closing day?

Closing day is the plan. This page is when the key never shows. Read both.

Seller is still in the house.

We need a key and a path. We will not move their leftover pile unless you booked that and they marked it.

Can we put everything in storage?

Local unit only. We will not write an interstate hold.

Call when the lockbox is empty

We will say load the old house, slide the start, or a local unit. Two ZIP codes still start the number for a door we can open.
