How we quote a Kansas City move from two ZIP codes
Two ZIP codes start a written price. Size, access, packing, and awkward items finish it. How the Kansas City quote form actually works — and what we still need from you after the ZIPs.
The first thing we ask is not a bedroom count. It is two ZIP codes: where you are and where you are going. That is step one on Get my price. The ZIPs tell us the job is local, how far the truck will run, and which side of the metro the access problems usually live on. They do not finish the price.
From [$XXX] an hour for two movers and a truck. Most local moves land between $1,200 and $1,500. Full packing can reach $3,000 to $4,000. Those bands are already on the site. Two ZIPs put you on the map. Photos and the rest of the form put you on a number. How the number moves is in what changes a Kansas City moving price and what a Kansas City move costs.
We stay inside the metro. We will not write an interstate or out-of-state run from a pair of ZIPs that leave Missouri and Kansas for another state. If both ends are here, keep going.
Why the ZIPs come first
A 64111 to 64015 job is not a 64111 to 66213 job in the same way. One is a Kansas City to Blue Springs run. The other crosses into Johnson County. We still move Johnson County houses. Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood, and Shawnee get named in the quote notes. Those suburb pages stay unpublished until Kansas authority is confirmed. Live list: service areas. The prep for that side of the state line is the Johnson County house move checklist, not a Kansas area URL.
ZIPs also catch a long carry before you say “ranch.” A Grandview lot off 71 can be a short drive and a long walk — Grandview 71 corridor. A Raytown ranch ZIP does not tell us the basement flight is there; it tells us to ask — Raytown ranch and basement moves. Independence and Lee's Summit ZIPs do the same: they start the right questions, they do not replace them.
- Origin ZIP: where the truck loads, and what the street usually does to a 26-footer
- Destination ZIP: where we unload, and whether the second HOA or the second stair is the one that costs the hour
- Both ZIPs together: whether the job is local, and how much windshield is on the clock
- Neither ZIP: a bedroom count with no map. We will ask again
What happens after the two ZIPs
If you land on the quote with `?from=` and `?to=` already filled, you skip straight to step two. That is on purpose. The homepage ZIP fields feed the same form. Step two is timing and a date if you have one. Weekends and month-end fill first — weekend vs weekday Kansas City moves. A couple of weeks is comfortable. If you need us sooner, we will say what is free. Do not invent a same-day promise in the form; ring (913) 957-9311 if the clock is this week.
We log a partial when you leave step two so the ZIPs and the date are not lost if you close the tab. That is a note for us, not a booking. You still finish size, help, awkward items, and a way to reach you.
Size, help, and the awkward list
Size is the house or the office as you live in it: studio through a larger place, or a commercial floor. Houses and apartments are most of the week. Offices need hours the floor is empty — office moves around your hours. A cleanout is a different job when the clock is empty-by-Friday — when a cleanout is the job and cleanouts.
Help is how much packing you want. None, kitchen only, or the whole place. Packing is per box: standard $10–20, wardrobe $25–30, dish pack $30–40. Packing. Kitchen: how to pack a kitchen. Bedroom: packing a bedroom and closet. Bathroom: packing a bathroom. Garage workshop: packing the garage workshop. Labour only if you already have the truck: labour only and labour-only moving.
Awkward defaults to none. Tick what you have. A piano changes the crew. So does a pool table, hot tub, safe, or china cabinet. Beds that need to come apart: beds and disassembly. Appliances and basement washers need a line, not a surprise on the morning. White glove is a different padding job — white glove vs standard.
- ZIPs first — local or not, which streets
- When — a date, or a window, and whether Saturday is the only day that works
- Size — rooms as they are, not as the listing was written
- Help — who packs, and which rooms
- Awkward — the pieces that change the crew
- Name, phone, email — so we can write the number back. SMS stays off unless you tick it
What two ZIPs cannot see
A stair. A landing. A drive that will not take the truck. An HOA window. A walk-up with no lift. Brick. A garage we should load first. That is why we ask for photos after the form — photos that get you a written moving price. A video from the awkward piece to the curb beats ten living-room stills.
Walk-ups, town homes and condos, and HOA and building rules are access, not ZIP math. Independence split-levels are two short flights the ZIP will not mention. Blue Springs garage-first is a door we need to keep as a door. New construction is a punch list and a driveway that may still be mud.
Weather: rain and ice. What stays off the truck: what not to put on the truck. What you are not taking: what you are not taking. The garage is a room: garage and shed as a room. Storage is local only: storage unit loading.
The written number — and what it is not
When the form is complete we have enough to write back. That is not a booking until we say the day is yours. It is not an insurance figure. We will not write “licensed and insured.” Damage: [TIM'S DAMAGE POLICY]. What I will honour: [WHAT TIM WILL HONOUR]. Google stays [X.X] · [XXX]. Reviews stay [REAL REVIEW] until they are on the page. Entity: [REGISTERED ENTITY NAME]. We trade as Jaka Movers and Transportation. About.
Compare the same ZIPs and the same photos with anyone else — comparing Kansas City movers. Do not compare our hourly line to a national website that never saw your stair. The four weeks before you move is when to start if you can. Morning-of: moving-day morning.
DOT and MC stay pending until they are real. We will not invent them so a ZIP pair looks official. Contact if you would rather talk it. Hours Mon–Sat 8am–7pm; messages any time. Privacy and cookies if you want the small print on the form.
Missouri ends we already write from a ZIP
Kansas City, Lee's Summit, Independence, Blue Springs, Raytown, Grandview. School-year pressure in Lee’s Summit: Lee's Summit school-year moves. A piano or a baby grand in Brookside still needs the piece named after the ZIP. TVs: TVs and electronics. Downsizing: senior downsizing.
I quote it. Two ZIPs, then the house. If you only have one end, send it and say so. We will ask for the other before we write a number that pretends we know the unload.
Frequently asked questions
Can you price from one ZIP?
We can start. We will not write a finished number until we know both ends. The unload is often the slower stair.
Is the quote a booking?
No. The form is how we write a number. The day is yours when we say it is on the board.
Why do you ask for a date so early?
Weekends and month-end fill first. A date tells us whether the crew you need is still free. See weekend vs weekday Kansas City moves.
Do you text me if I do not tick SMS?
SMS stays off unless you tick it. We will use the phone or email you gave.
What if my ZIPs are in Kansas?
We still want them. We move those houses. The Kansas suburb pages are not live. Mention the city in the notes. Use the live service areas list and the Johnson County checklist.
Can photos wait until after the ZIPs?
Yes. ZIPs first, photos as soon as you can. The written number gets straighter when we see the stair.
Send the two ZIP codes
Origin and destination first. We will ask the rest and write the number for the house you actually have — not a bedroom count with no map.
