How we use dollies — and when we do not

Four-wheel, appliance strap, a carry instead. How dollies work on a Kansas City move — and when a stair, ice, or a mattress means we leave them on the truck.

Wind and mattresses is a sail, not a dolly job. Furniture that will not turn is the piece that does not fit the landing. How we pad and wrap is blankets. Piano board and stair creeper is the next page. This page is wheels: when they save the floor and when they do not belong on the path. Two ZIP codes: Get my price. We will not write “licensed and insured.”

From [$XXX] an hour for two movers and a truck — two movers and a truck. Most local jobs $1,200–$1,500. Pads and dollies ride with the truck. We do not publish a dolly fee here. What changes the price. How we quote: two ZIP codes. Compare hours: how to compare hourly quotes. Damage: [TIM'S DAMAGE POLICY]. What I will honour: [WHAT TIM WILL HONOUR].

What we roll. What we carry.

A low garage header will not take a stacked load standing up — garage as a room, Raytown ranch, Blue Springs garage-first. Long carry: wheels help until the gravel starts — long carry and shuttle. Stairs inside: often a carry, not a roll — stairs and tight turns, walk-ups. Heat on three flights is rest, not more wheels — heat and a third-floor walk-up. Be home: how to be home. Two doors: who should be at each end.

What we will not roll

We will not put a loaded four-wheel on ice. We will not treat a stair creeper as a house dolly — that is the next page. We will not strap a china cabinet and hope the landing is wide — china cabinets. Labour only still uses our dollies when the path allows — labour-only. A tip is not a ramp — tipping. How long: how long a local move takes. If it runs long because the path was stairs we had to carry, that is still the clock — what we do if it runs long. A third is for weight, not because a dolly was shy — when you need a third, how we staff three. Doorway and banister: doorway and banister. Same-day: same-day.

Parking: the sit has to take a loaded cart — parking. HOA: HOA. Elevator cab that will not take a fridge on a dolly: elevator reservations. Town home: town homes. Keys late: keys late. Closing day: closing day. Origin ready, dest not: origin ready, destination not. Overnight on the truck: overnight on the truck. What to tell us: gravel, a lip, a low header — what to tell us. Week before: what movers need the week before. After the form: after you request a price. Photos of the path: photos that get a written price. Video: video walkthrough. Walk: what a walkthrough looks like. Morning-of: moving-day morning. Kids and pets off the roll path — kids and pets.

Access does not flatten the path

Frequently asked questions

Do you bring dollies?

Yes. Four-wheel and appliance. They ride with the truck. The path decides if we use them.

Can you roll everything?

No. Ice, a wet stair, a mattress in wind, a piano — those are carries or a different board.

Low garage door.

A loaded dolly will not always stand up. Say the height. See garage as a room.

Is this the piano-board page?

That is next. This page is house dollies. A stair creeper is not a four-wheel.

Labour only — your dollies or mine?

Ours, when the path allows. Labour only is still our labour.
